The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple (佛牙寺龙华院)

It takes SGD $76million (back in 2005) and 2 years to construct this place. Although it’s not my usual classification of pure historical building but it’s worth mentioning because this is one of the most popular attraction within Chinatown due to its richly designed interior.

A relic is defined as “ a part of a deceased holy person’s body or belongings kept as an object of reverence.“ This „specific Buddha tooth relic“ that drives the name of this building was discovered from a collapsed stupa in Myanmar back in the 1980s.

When you step into the main hall on the first floor, you will probably be greeted by the sounds of monks or devotees chanting. The ceiling is lit by beautiful gilt Tang period lanterns.
